The University of Warwick is one of the best-known and respected universities in the UK and is consistently ranked in the top 10 by the major university league tables. As a member of Warwick's Elite Sports Clubs initiative and one of the most popular sports clubs on campus, Warwick Rowing ("the Club") will have over 120 active members going into the 2013-14 academic year who will compete at 18 major competitions across the UK. We are seeking sponsorship in the region of £3,500 to push the club into the top tier of university level rowing.
The Club has worked hard to develop an excellent reputation both on and off campus. Within the university, the Club's members are known for their professionalism, commitment and determination with members combining their studies with an average of nine training sessions each week during term time. We feel this distinguishes us from other sports clubs. Our achievements include:
-Our Men's 1st VIII has qualified for Henley Royal Regatta in four of the last five years, pre-qualifying in the 2010-11 season.
-Our Women's 1st VIII has qualified for Henley Women's Regatta in six of the last seven years, reaching the quarter finals in the 2010-11 season. Our women's beginner level VIII came fourth in its event at the British University Championships.
-This year two of our Senior Women's squad athletes have been selected to attend the national team's rowing training camp aimed at athletes with the potential represent Great Britain internationally.
-Our recent alumni include Tom Solesbury, an Olympic athlete at Beijing 2008 and Olympic finalist at London 2012. Others include a 2009 Henley Royal Regatta finalist and a 2011 Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race winner. These athletes began their rowing careers at Warwick.
This year the Club aim to be ranked in the top 5 boat clubs at university level. Our men's 1st VIII is currently ranked 7th in UK university championship level competition. Our other aims are:
-For the Men's 1st VIII to reach a top 50 ranking at the International Men's Head of the River Race in London, attended by over 400 crews including over 50 international crews.
-For the Women's 1st VIII to reach the top 100 at the equally renowned Women's Head of the River.
-For the Club to attract at least 100 new members to the club, both experienced and development level athletes.
-To raise significant awareness of the Club through the 2013 Men's and Women's naked Calendar whilst also giving to charitable causes.
-To win Warwick University's 2013 'Sports Club of the Year' award, to build on the 'Most Improved Sports Club' award that we received in 2011.
The club is confident that any agreement would be both beneficial to Warwick Rowing and our sponsor. The benefits of becoming a a sponsor can be found here.
